Getting Connected Days: 29, 30 January 2020

At Newlands Intermediate we believe that establishing strong relationships and making educationally powerful connections with learners as soon as possible makes for a great start to your child’s time at our school. We would like you to “Get Connected” with your child’s teacher on Wednesday January 29th or Thursday January 30th. Year 7 students will “get connected” on January 29th and year 8 students will “get connected” on January 30th

Please CLICK HERE to make a booking to "Get Connected" with your child's teacher – this is an opportunity to make connections and share information. Learners will attend with their parents / caregivers. 15 minute sessions with classroom teachers are available between 8:30am and 4:30pm.

After School Music Centre - Enrolments for 2020

Enrolment day for our after school Music Centre is 12 February 2020 from 3-5pm at the school office.  Instrumental lessons are available for violin, guitar, flute and piano. Please ring Kaye at the school office on 478 8195 for further information.

Identifying who you are and what you stand for is a challenging but satisfying exercise. We have worked with a local company Flightdec in recent months discussing our school identity and what we can use to showcase our school to the world!

Over the next year we will all see a few subtle changes I hope. The uniform has been re-designed, we have a new logo, and a new website and next year even a change of colour palette throughout the school buildings.

The logo is at top of this page and represents the tree that has been growing in our courtyard since the school was built in 1977 – ti kouka – the cabbage tree. This tree is a symbol of resilience, growth, strong heart and national identity.

This tree is set within a hexagon which not only represents our bees but also symbolises for us strength, community, togetherness and collective achievement. We identified a few other icons that we believe reflects our culture, our vision and our values. We would love to know what you think too.

Where we come from, citizenship.

Vibrant, physical, diversity, curious.

Communication, collaboration, working together, collective achievement.

Ti kouka

Resilience, compassion, diversity.

Between primary and secondary, composure, integrity.

Growth, creativity and innovative thinking.

Three Baskets of Knowledge

Lifelong learning.

Strength, community, togetherness and collective achievement.
